Slogan: 2013 Festival Virgin Island Style-Celebrate Freedom with Territorial Pride

In commemoration of the 1834 Emancipation Act, which marks the abolition of slavery in the British Virgin Islands, an annual August Festival is held attracting visitors from around the world. The Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant which is one of the many events held during the two-week Festival, specifically benefits our young women by providing them with an opportunity to achieve their educational aspirations through a scholarship for tertiary education, and enhancing their personal and professional growth while gaining valuable experience that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Five Virgin Islands beauties who will be competing for the 2014 Miss BVI crown were presented to the public last evening at The Moorings, May 31.

The participants are contestant #1 Doneisha Maduro Findlay, 19; #2 Tecora Morgan, 18 from Virgin Gorda; #3 Jaynene Jno Lewis, 24; #4 Aribella Parsons, 21; and #5 Leah Johnney, 19.

The pageant is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 3 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex.
