The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and the BVI Festivals and Fairs Committee is asking the public to continue to support the reigning Miss BVI, Josefina Nunez as she vies for the title of Miss Universe.
This will be the first time in eight years the BVI has participated in the pageant. Residents are asked to log on to the international pageant’s website at www.missuniverse.com/members/contestants and cast their vote for Nunez as Miss Photogenic.
Nunez will be leaving the Territory on August 7 to represent the BVI at the prestigious Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas on August 23. While competing, this gives Miss BVI a great opportunity to market the Territory to a wide audience. The Territory has already gained international press inquiries by its submission in the globally renowned pageant.
The Miss Universe pageant will be telecast live from Las Vegas Nevada on Monday, August 23 on NBC, locally channel 13 at 9p.m. The reigning Miss Universe is Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela. The Miss Universe pageant was started in California in 1952. Initially a swim suit competition, the event has grown to include as many as 85 contestants from around the world with contestants being judge on their swim suit, evening gown and talent. USA businessman, Donald Trump owns the Miss Universe Organization.
